THE DEPT OF CORRECTIONS PROPOSES A SEISMIC RETROFIT OF THE EAST CELL BLOCK AT SAN QUENTIN STATE PRISON. THE PROPOSED PROJECT IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE 1990 EARTHQUAKE SAFETY & PUBLIC BUIDLINGS REHABILITATION BOND ACT. THE PROPOSED PROJECT INVOLVES SEISMIC STRENGTHENING OF AN EXISTING BUILDING. CONSTRUCTION WOULD INCLUDE A NEW HORIZONTAL STEEL TRUSS SYSTEM, NEW CONCRETE BEAMS, AND NEW EXTERIOR BUTTRESSES.
