Document Description
This proposed project involves 40 acres of gravel mining to extract rock, sand, and gravel. After the top six inches of soil is removed, the project site will be mined to a depth of approximately 120 feet. Project activities include vegetation removal, mining, and mineral extraction. Extracted material will be transported via heavy haul trucks or conveyors to an aggregate plant off site.
The Project will result in incidental take of 54 western Joshua tree (Yucca brevifolia)(WJT). WJT is protected under the WJTCA and the California Endangered Species Act. The WJTCA ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of WJT that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
