Document Description
The project consists of the demolition of two existing movie theatres ans the construction of a new, 93,702 square-foot retail structure on property located within a Commercial-Regional (CR) zone. The new retail structure is being constructed for the purpose of operating a retail business, known as "Expo Design Center" that displays and sells middle to high-end interior design products and services. The proposed retail structure is to be located at the south end of a regional shopping center known as "Galleria at the South Bay". The approval of the proposed project is consistent with the City's goal for the subject property, as contained in the General Plan, which states that the goal for regional-serving land uses is to provide land uses which attract a regional customer base and contribute significant revenue to the City. The primary objective is to allow for the continuation and expansion of regional-serving specialty, entertainment, and related uses at the Galleria at South Bay and adjacent properties classified as Commercial Regional.
