Document Description
Note: Addendum to the MND
A modification to an approved Conditional use Permit, Surface Mining Permit, and Reclamation Plan (effective October 6, 1995) and review of Financial Cost Estimates for existing surface mining operations on four (4) quarries located on the Ford Ranch near the community of Blue Lake. All four quarries are existing sites that have been mined over the last several decades. Quarry Site Nos. 2 and 4 have been essentially depleted and are currently undergoing reclamation activities. A very limited amount of material has been removed from Quarry Site No. 3. The original approval permitted a maximum yearly extraction volume total of 35,000 cubic yards for all four quarries. The current project proposes Modification of the boundary and volume of rock material to be mined at Quarry Site No.1. The surface are of the expansion is approximately one acre, from 2.3 to 3.3 acres. The additional 50,000 cubic yards of material available at Quarry Site No. 1 result not only from expanding the perimeter but also from increasing its depth. No change to the maximum annual extraction volume total is proposed. Expansion of the operation requires tree and vegetation removal under a Non-Industrial Timber Management Plan. No other changes to the approved project are proposed. The Modification does not affect the termination date of October 6, 2010.
