- Document Description
- The project is the construction and formalization of a multi-use trail (pedestrian/bicycle/equestrian) as a segment of the San Dieguito River Park Coast to Crest Trail (CTC) in Santa Fe Valley. This project extends the existing formalized portion of the CTC trail by one mile, connecting the trail segment to the Lusardi Open Space Preserve. The subject trail segment is identified as part of the Santa Fe Valley Specific Plan in the (1) Land Use Map, (2) in the Open Space I and Rural and Very Low Density land use designations, and (3) in the Circulation Plan. Additionally, the subject trail is discussed in the Santa Fe Valley Specific Plan EIR (Figures 1 through 4). The trail is described in the Specific Plan as a multi-use trail for hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians. Most of the trail alignment included in this project currently existings on the ground and would require minimal vegetation clearing and trimming to widen the trail beyond the existing width of the dirt path to provide a safe multi-use path consistent with the rest of the Coast to Crest Trail in Santa Fe Valley. The new trail extension would be unpaved as stated in the previous EIR for the SPA.
