Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is executing Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2013-0026-R2, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Amador City. The Project's purpose is to replace the existing, structurally deficient bridge. The existing two-span structure will be removed, including the native stone abutments in the creek. The proposed bridge type will be a cast-in-pace concrete slab bridge. The proposed bridge will be a single span, 36 feet in length, spanning Amador creek. Bridge work will include two new abutments founded on bedrock in the creek. The proposed project will improve the creek's hydraulic capacity by expanding the north bridge abutment out of the channel 6 to 8 feet to widen the channel. Other channel improvements to increase hydraulic capacity will include reducing channel roughness at the exposed bedrock below the bridge by removing large cut stones abandoned in the channel during previous bridge construction projects, mechanically chipping off high points in the exposed bedrock, and permanent removal of the existing bridge piers. A temporary bridge will be placed across the creek 300 feet upstream of the existing bridge.
