Document Description
The Fish and Game Commission is required by the Marine Life Management Act (MLMA) to bring the previously adopted White Seabass Fish Management Plan into compliance with the MLMA and to adopt regulations to implement the White Seabass Fishery Management Plan. The project objectives are to provide adequate resource protection to ensure the continued existence of the white seabass (Atractoscion nobilis) resource in California's waters while providing for commercial harvest consistent with aesthetic, scientific, educational, and recreational uses, taking into consideration the necessity of regulating the harvest within the limits of an optimum yield. The enclosed Draft White Seabass Fishery Management Plan was prepared by the Department of Fish and Game (Department) in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
