Document Description
The Plans and Project Manual have been prepared for the project to realign Langley Street and to widen Doolittle Drive. The proposed intersection improvements include installation of a 3-way traffic signal, creation of left turn lanes, and realignment, widening, and repaving of the roadways to accommodate the intersection. All improvements will occur within the existing street right of way with the following exceptions that will improve traffic circulation for Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline Park (the Park). On the Park's side of Doolittle Drive, the project will: 1) provide in-kind replacement for curbs, a sign, and irrigation equipment; 2) provide shoulder contouring to conform with the existing paving and shoulder elevations; and 3) trim existing shrubs that hang over the CalTrans right of way. These improvements occur within the Park's lease area. The Park District concurs with the proposed improvements. The Port has been working on the project with the CalTrans Permit Department since the summer of 2000. The Port continues to work with CalTrans for approval of the project plans and project manual to acquire an encroachment permit.
