Document Description
The Marine Science Research Building ("MSR Building") project would construct a four-story building of approximately 61,405 gross square feet (gsf) that would house research laboratories, laboratory support space, academic offices, administration offices, administration support space, and a lecture hall on the eastern side of the main campus. The project would physically organize several diverse programs into a single facility to accommodate the specialized requirements of Antarctic Research, Coastal Research, the Ocean Coastal Policy Center, Oceanography, the Marine Science Institute, the Marine Science Education and Outreach Facility, and the Seawater Center. The project site was previously Parking Lot 1, and is bounded on the east by Lagoon Road and the Pacific Ocean, on the south by Biosciences II and Biosciences III, on the west by Noble Hall and Building 569, and on the north by the Environmental Sciences (ES) Building (under construction), Geology Building, Building 546, Broida Hall, and Engineering I.
