Document Description
California Resources Production Corporation (CRPC) proposes to plug and abandon two waterflood wells in the Huntington Beach Oil Field. Specifically, CRPC proposes to abandon the 04 wellbore for Well #UJ-98C and the 01 wellbore for Well #CJ-179. Wellbores 00, 01, 02, and 03 for Well #UJ-189 are missing various isolation plugs, as is the 00 wellbore for Well #CJ-179. However, CRPC does not propose to re-enter the 00, 01, 02, or 03 wellbores for Well UJ-189 or the 00 wellbore for Well #CJ-179. Therefore, continuing the abandonments will result in a not-approved final letter of abandonment. The final letter will document the current abandonment and statuses of all wellbores associated with the wells. The wells’ status will not be converted to plugged and abandoned following the work. The wells’ status will remain idle and the bond covering this work will not be released. Approving the plan will prevent, as far as possible, damage to life, health, property, and natural resources. Temporary equipment such as pumps and return bins may be needed. No permanent facilities will be constructed. No expansion of associated facilities will be required. Various mobile temporary equipment will be used including, but not limited to, rig and associated equipment as well as crew vehicles and trucks to transport personnel and materials to/from the site. There will be no new ground surface disturbance associated with this Permit Activity. Any waste materials will be properly disposed of in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The project activity being permitted by CalGEM is within the scope of the Upper Main Zone Cooperative Waterflood Project. CalGEM, as the CEQA Responsible Agency, approved permits for CRPC to abandon the wells listed below, in the Huntington Beach Oil Field in Orange County.
