Document Description
The project involves the modification and construction of new facilities (aeration basin and secondary clarifier) on approximately 4 acres (over what is now part of the sludge basin) of the existing City of Merced Wastewater Treatment Plant, in order to allow an increase in effluent from 8.5 million gallons per day to 10 million gallons per day (mgd). Although the aeration basin and secondary clarifier will be constructed with an effluent capacity of 15 mgd, the overall plant capacity will remain at 10 mgd since existing wastewater treatment plant components are limited to 10 mgd. Expansion of the Waste Water Treatment Plant to 20 (mgd) was the subject of the 1994 Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) of "City of Merced Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion, " SCH #92112029.
