Document Description
The proposed project is an Amendment to the East Otay Mesa Specific Plan. The purpose of the amendment is to update the land use plan and permit processing requirements. The entire Specific Plan Area covers approximately 3,300 acres. The proposed changes in the project description will affect only SubArea 1. The land uses in the eastern portion of the Specific Plan area, known as Sub-Area 2, will remain unchanged. The changes proposed for Sub-Area 1 include the following: The area previously identified as Hillside Residential (241 acres) will change to Conservation/Limited Use. The biggest change will be the designation of 947 acres of Technology Business Park in areas previously identified for Commercial and Mixed Industrial uses. The remaining 699 acres of previously designated Mixed Industrial will be changed to 410 acres of Light Industrial and 289 acres of Heavy Industrial uses. The Regional and District Commercial uses will be deleted and replaced by a single Commercial Center Overlay not to exceed 40 acres, located in the western portion of the Plan area with an underlying Technology Business Park land use designation. Approximatley 130 acers will be set aside as regional Circulation Corridors.
