THE CITY OF GRAND TERRACE SOURCE REDUCTION AND RECYCLING ELEMENT (SRRE) IS A PLANNING DOCUMENT DEVELOPED IN RESPONSE TO AB939, THE CALIFORNIA INTERGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT ACT OF 1989 (AB939). AB939 REQUIRES EVERY CITY AND COUNTY IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO PREPARE AN SRRE THAT IDENTIFIES HOW EACH JURISDICTION WILL MEET THE MANDATORY WASTE DIVERSION GOALS SET BY THE STATE OF 25% BY 1995 AND 50% BY 2000. THE ELEMENT INCLUDES 10 COMPONENTS. SOLID WASTE GENERATION, SOURCE REDUCTION, RECYCLING, COMPOSTING, SPECIAL WASTE, EDUCATION, DISPOSAL FACILITY, FUNDING AND INTERGRATION
