Document Description
The temporary authorization to the proposed Class 2 modification to Cell 1 of WMU 35 will allow the Safety-Kleen Buttonwillow facility to better manage the anticipated reduction in waste volume. The proposed modification consists of dividing Cell 1 of WMU 35 into two sub-phases. The separation of Cell 1 into sub-phases will be accomplished by constructing a temporary operational berm within the boundaries of the original operational berms of Cell 1. The primary modification from the original design will be in the manner the waste is placed in the cell. A new slope stability analysis was performed to ensure there would be no adverse effect to the environment from the change in waste placement operations.
