THIS PROGRAMMATIC EIS DESCRIBES THE POTENTIAL IMPACTS OF THE INSTALLATION OF UP TO 100 TERMINAL DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR UNITS NEAR MAJOR AIRPORTS AROUND THE US AND PUERTO RICO. THESE UNITS ARE DESIGNED TO DETECT WIND SHEAR, A MAJOR THRE TO THE SAFETY OF AIRCRADFT DURING LANDINGS AND TAKEOFFS.THE EIS IS NOT SITE SPECIFIC. ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS WILL BE PREPARED FOR EACH SELECTED SITE UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THIS PEIS.
