The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) proposes to approve an extension until December 31, 2001 for a variance issued to Romic Environmental Technologies Corporation (Romic) for their facility located in the Port of Redwood City, California. The facility is currently authorized by a variance issued in 1996 pursuant to California Health & Safety Code Section 25143 (HSC 25143) that waived the permit requirements of Title 22, California Code of Regulations, Section 66270.1 (22 CCR 66270.1) for the handling (i.e., transferring) of hazardous waste from tanker trucks into rail cars. The facility is fully regulated pursuant to California Health & Safety Code Section 25100 et. seq. and Title 22 California Code of Regulations, except as specifically identified in the variance.
