A-7 AND C-5 BACKWATERS HAVE UNDERGONE SUCCESSIONAL CHANGES SINCE THEIR LAST MAINTENANCE WORK IN 1969. SEDIMENT HAS PLUGGED THE INLET CULVERTS, SANDBARS ARE BLOCKING THE DOWNSTREAM OUTLETS TO THE RIVER, AND THE BACKWATERS ARE GENERALLY SHALLOW AND HAVE POOR CIRCULATION OF FRESH WATER.
