THE PROJECT IS THE ADOPTION BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES (DHS) OF REGULATIONS WHICH ESTABLISH STANDARDS FOR A HAZARDOUS WASTE FACILITY CALLED A RESIDUAL REPOSITORY. THE HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT ACT OF 1986 (HWMS, SENATE BILL 1500, ROBERTI) REQUIRES DHS TO ADOPT TREATMENT STANDARDS FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSED IN A HAZARDOUS WASTE LAND DISPOSAL FACILITY.
