Document Description
The project is limited to the installation of a storm drain, a spillway, and a culvert crossing over an unnamed seasonal tributary to the Cosumnes River as part of the development of a 38.57-acre plot into a residential subdivision including 90 single-family homes, six open space lots, and two right-of-way lots. The storm drain will be constructed at the western edge of the property where the stream meets Sierra Ridge
Road. Equipment will be transported to the site and staged in the upland area of the property. Approximately 82 cubic yards of material will be excavated from the roadway and the stream’s riparian zone. A 29-foot-long, 18-inch wide storm drainpipe will be installed to collect and direct stormwater from the development. A 15- foot-long, 36-inch-wide storm drain will be installed to connect to the 18-inch storm drain pipe, which will transport water to the existing storm drain that runs down the center of Sienna Ridge Road. Once the storm drainpipes are installed, they will be covered with approximately 88 cubic yards of backfill and 16 cubic yards of roadway and embankment fill. The culvert crossing will be built under a proposed road crossing the stream. Equipment will be transported to the site and staged in the upland area of the property. Approximately 155 cubic yards of material will be excavated from the streambed and riparian zone. A 48-foot-long, 36-inch-wide culvert pipe will be placed in the streambed, along with a 36-inch flared end section. Approximately 32 cubic yards of rock slope protection will be placed at the inlet and outlet of the culvert. Approximately 63 cubic yards of backfill will cover the culvert. A concrete masonry unit (CMU) wall will be built on both sides of the culvert to prevent erosion.
Following the culvert’s construction, the bare fill and dirt slopes will be seeded with native plants, and mulch will be applied. The spillway will carry overflow from a proposed detention basin to the stream and will be constructed north of the stream, west of the culvert crossing and east of the storm drain. Equipment will be transported to the site and staged in the upland area of the property. Approximately 24 cubic yards of material will be excavated and approximately 27 cubic yards of rock slope protection will be placed within the riparian zone leading to the creek. Three trees, including two oaks and one buckeye, will be removed from the riparian zone.
