CDFW has executed lake and streambed alteration agreement no. 1600-2014-0245-R6, pursuant to section 1602 of the fish and game code to the project applicant, Waste Management, El Sobrante Landfill, or as represented by Mr. David Harich. The project includes the routine maintenance of four ponds: Ponds 1, 2, 3, and 4. Pond 1 has a footprint of approximately 0.40 acre, Pond 2 has a footprint of approximately 0.5 acre, Pond 3 has a footprint of approximately 0.77 acre, and Pond 4 has an approximately 0.70 acre footprint. Routine maintenance for the project involves the annual removal of approxiamtely 2,500 cy of sediment and vegetation from each pond. Sediment removal will take an estimated 2 to 3 days per pond, and will be accomplished using a rubber-tired loader or a backhoe. The removed sediment will be trransferred into haul trucks, which will transport it into the landfill to be used as daily cover. Sediment removal will occur as needed, not more than once per year during the dry season.
