- The project involves of construction of a concrete-lined canal, parallel to the earthen lined All American Canal for a distance of 23 miles, starting 1.6 miles west of Pilot Knob, crossing Pilot Knob Mesa, Sand Hills (also known as Algodones Dunes), and East Mesa, and ending at Hydroelectric Drop 3. The centerline of the new canal will be offset from the old centerline of the existing canal by a distance of 195 to 850 feet, depending on the terrain, ease of construction, and location of existing structures.
