Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2004-0538-R5 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Mr. Steve Letterly, The Irvine Company. The applicant proposes to alter the streambed and banks through the proposed geological data collection and testing within Veeh Creek, tributary to San Diego Creek, associated with the future extension of Lake Forest Drive. The proposed project consists of the drilling of two exploratory holes approximately 6-inches in diameter and 50-feet in depth that will be backfilled upon completion of the data collection. In order to perform the geological testing and data collection, the construction of an equipment mobility pad and a temporary access road will be required. Upon completion of the geotechnical exploration activities, all impact areas will be restored with native vegetation local to the area. The project shall not temporarily impact more than 0.20 acre of stream channel and associated riparian vegetation consisting of southern willow scrub, mulefat scrub and emergent marsh vegetation. The applicant shall mitigate 0.20 acre temporary impacts to native riparian vegetation at a compensation to impact ratio of 1:1, for a total irrigation obligation of 0.20 acre, and shall consist of on-site creation, restoration, and enhancement.
