Document Description
The proposed permit activity is for the rework of a geothermal well located in the Wendel Oil Field, Lassen County. The project is located off Wendel Rd. on an existing graded pad surrounded by undisturbed vegetation, utilities, oilfield facilities, and access roads.?Work will involve the install and cement of a 9-5/8” liner from surface to 1300’ to eliminate shallow surfaces leaks and prevent leaks from occurring in the future. The existing 13-3/8” casing needs to be clean and free of debris. A 13-3/8” casing scraper will be picked up and run into the wellbore with a 12-1/4” bit. The bottom hole assembly(BHA) will be used to clean the casing to the top of the 9-5/8” casing (1312’ feet). After the plug is set the casing will be tested to confirm plug placement and sealing. Once the plug is set, the rig will run a 9-5/8” casing string from surface to 1300’ (5 to 10 feet above the top of the plug).?The casing will then be cemented in place through the drill pipe. Once the cement is set and BOPs are reinstalled, the casing will be pressure tested. Upon completion of work and successful testing the rig will be demobilized, and no permanent equipment or facilities will be constructed. All work will occur on the existing pad with no additional disturbance or vegetation removal. ?
The project activity being permitted by the California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) is within the scope of the Honey Lake Geothermal Exploration Project Negative Declaration (ND). The rework of the well is contemplated on pages 1-3 of the ND.
CalGEM, as the CEQA Responsible Agency, approved a permit for HL Power to rework the well listed below, in the Wendel Oil Field in Lassen County.
