Document Description
The project is an amendment to Streambed Alteration Agreement #1600-2004-0136-3 for the Devil's Slide Bypass Project. This amendment allows for the installation of a flex pipe that will convey overflow water from the top of the south pond dam down to a concrete junction box for a length of approximately 200 feet. This flex pipe installation was designed in coordination with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Department of Fish and Game to address an ongoing erosion problem, thereby conserving the south pond as habitat mitigation for the California red-legged frog in perpetuity. The existing vegetation will be monitored for a period of five years to ensure survival. If after five years of monitoring a net loss in riparian vegetation is observed, Caltrans will submit a riparian planting mitigation and monitoring plan for approval by the Department of Fish and Game by December 30, 2012. The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2004-0136-3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Mr. Jeffrey Jensen, California Department of Transportation.
