The seismic retrofit of the existing bridges requires a subsurface investigation to determine soil and site conditions by drilling three vertical borings, performing in-situ soil testing (Standard Penetration Tests), collecting soil samples for laboratory testing and soil classification, and developing a subsurface soil profile. Borings will be advanced using rotary wash and rock coring methods through either paved surfaces or through the unpaved median. All field work is anticipated to occur in night hours between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am, during the work week. Shoulder and lane closures are necessary for site safety. Drilling is tentatively scheduled for summer 2022 and the anticipated duration of onsite activities is one week.",https://ceqanet.opr.ca.gov/2022070465,05-1J900- Geotechnical Drilling for the Santa Barbara 101 Pave Project,Lara Bertaina,Caltrans,"Senior Environmental Scientist, Branch Manager",Lara.Bertaina@dot.ca.gov,50 Higuera Street,,San Luis Obispo,CA,93401,8057790792,,Santa Barbara,Santa Barbara,Santa Barbara,"Highway 101, State Street",93110,,,101,"Atascadero Crk, Arroyo Burro Crk, Cienegunitas Crk, Laguna Blanca Lake",,,,,,,,,,Categorical Exemption,15304- Minor Alterations to Land,The project is exempt because it would not result in any significant environmental impacts.
