The pedestrian walkway extends toward Varner Harbor from the visitor center. Contractors will remove 100 old concrete slabs, measuring 4' x 11' each, along an 1100' walkway. Slabs will be broken into pieces using a hammer attached to a backhoe; the backhoe will then remove pieces to the parks' boneyard. Once slabs are removed, the dirt will be excavated to approximately 10' depth, with base and rebar added to the footprint of the old walkway. A compact vibrator will compact the ground in the walkway path. An existing culvert will be improved with sourced rocks to direct rainfall to landscaping. Measures to be implemented to avoid impact may be obtained from the project contact.",https://ceqanet.opr.ca.gov/2021120014,Pedestrian Walkway Repairs,Sara Lockett,Ocotillo Wells District Environmental Coordinator,Senior Environmental Scientist,sara.lockett@parks.ca.gov,"5172 Highway 78, #10",,Borrego Springs,CA,92004,7607671084,,,Riverside,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Categorical Exemption,"Class 1 Section 15301, Class 2 Section 15302, Class 4 Section 15304","No potential for significant impact to the environment is anticipated in compliance with CEQA Section 15300.4.
