The new bridge would have a length of 210 feet with a 150-foot main span and a 60-foot approach span and would provide two 11-foot traffic lanes and 5-foot shoulder for a clear width of 32 feet, and barrier rails along both sides. The structure type would be a two-span steel girder bridge supported by abutments and a pier on large diameter driven cast-in-steel shell piles. The existing bridge would be removed and disposed of offsite. The bridge deck elevation would be raised in order to have a minimum bridge deck elevation slightly higher than the 100-year Klamath River backwater elevation to minimize future “redo” work and to accommodate future U.S. Route 101 and Requa Road grade raise projects. Stormwater treatment is anticipated at the northeast and northwest areas of the project site and would be installed during Phase 2 of the proposed project construction. Water from the bridge deck and roadway would be piped to detention basins located within the Hunter Creek floodplain but outside of the normal flow areas.
