Under LADWP’s Water Infrastructure Plan, pipeline replacement projects promote long-term efficient operation and lower the risk of disruptions due to failures in the water distribution system. The proposed project would replace existing aging trunk lines to provide a more reliable and safe water supply for the residents of this area. The proposed project will replace approximately 550 feet of 36” welded steel trunk line pipes with cement-lined welded steel pipes of the same size and following the existing alignment. This segment is considered to be at high risk for future breaks and connects to pipe where a prior break had occurred in 2014. Construction each day will be confined to a small area in compliance with LADOT requirements and approval, and move along the project alignment for the construction duration until completion. At the end of each working day excavated area will be made safe by using fence panels and/or K-rail. Driveway access will be maintained by plating open trench areas after working hours. Traffic control plans will be implemented per Los Angeles Department of Transportation requirements. Construction is anticipated to take approximately six months and start as early as fall of 2020.
