The project is located in open space, desert scrub habitat approximately 1.26 miles south of the intersection between N. Peace Road and Gold Hill Road. Due to erosion, the retaining wall will be constructed downslope along the southern side of tower M59-T2, measuring approximately 50 feet long and standing approximately 10 feet above the surface. The excavation for the retaining wall will be four feet at the deepest point. In order to facilitate construction, a temporary bench will be created 25 feet south of the tower. Native seed mix will be used in a hydroseeder. An existing oak tree will be protected in place, minor trimming is possible on the easterly edge of the tree to allow clearance for construction equipment. A juniper tree will likely need to be removed. Prior to the project, natural resource staff will inspect the area, including any tree or vegetation that may be inhabited by wildlife, such as nesting birds. If nesting birds are found, the project will be postponed until after the nesting season. Temporary erosion control materials include burlap wattles and burlap soil bags. After construction of the retaining wall, the slope will be restored and all disturbed earth and slopes will be stabilized.",https://ceqanet.opr.ca.gov/2020070552/2,Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area – Southern California Edison Retaining Wall,Jon M.
