The Project is limited to the demolition and replacement of the existing Mission Boulevard Bridge (State Bridge Number 56C-0071) and widening of Mission Boulevard over the Santa Ana River. The existing 11 spans of the bridge and two abutments will be removed and replaced with five spans and two abutments. The proposed piers will reduce the overall bridge footprint from 0.14 acres to approximately 0.02 acres within the Santa Ana River. The proposed project also includes the potential relocation of utilities, including existing sewer, water, gas, electric, communication, and overhead electrical lines. construction of the project will require the diversion of the flow to provide access to construct the pier and removal of the existing bridge. Construction of the project will involve approximately 26,700 cubic yards (cy) of cut and approximately 25,6000 cy of fill. The Streambed Alteration Agreement is being issued regarding the Project’s impacts to fish and wildlife resources subject to Fish and Game Code section 1600 et seq. and associated compensatory mitigation requirements. The Project will permanently impact a total of 0.02 acres, add 0.74 acres of shade impacts and temporarily impact 6.72 acres of fish and wildlife resources pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1600 et seq.
