The project will interconnect to the regional electrical grid at the Southern California Edison 230-kilovolt Colorado River Substation. The approved project is a 350-megawatt (“MW”) photovoltaic (“PV”) solar energy facility, up to 350 MW (1,400 megawatt-hours [MWh]) of integrated energy storage capacity, and related facilities. The project is located in the eastern portion of the Chuckwalla Valley near the City of Blythe in unincorporated Riverside County, California, north of Mule Mountain, and south of Interstate 10. CDFW’s approval of the project under the Fish and Game Code includes the issuance to Recurrent Energy of an incidental take permit (ITP) under the California Endangered Species Act and the execution of a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement (LSAA). ITP 2081-2021-015-06 authorizes incidental take of Mojave desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) subject to various conditions of approval.
