Erosion has undercut these steep slopes exposing an abandoned wash rack pipe and potentially threatening active subsurface infrastructure critical to the station. Baker FFS is located 20 miles west of Red Bluff in Western Tehama County. Access is via State Route Highway 36W. Elevation is 600 ft. The vegetation type is best described as foothill pine and oak woodland habitat. The project as proposed will decrease slope angles at the upper 5 feet (vertical) of the slope to approximately 3;1 (horizontal to vertical), remove 40 linear feet of each rack drain pipe and emplace BMPs for erosion control. The excavation will impact an area of approximately 3,000 square feet. Equipment will include an excavator, dump truck, backhoe, and skid steer. Work will start in December and take two days. Start date is dependent on weather and BMP's will include waddles, straw mulch and/or control blankets and sand bags.
