The new helitack base would have crew housing facilities designed to meet Silver LEED rating criteria, would provide quality-of-life upgrades for the permanent and seasonal crews stationed at the helitack base, and would increase safety parameters and decrease nuisance impacts to the surrounding community. No plans have been made for the use of the existing Station. It is anticipated that the station would be declared as surplus and vacated. The existing site is owned in part by Lassen County (northern 1/3 portion of site) and the State of CA (southern 2/3 of the site). The proposed project would involve the relocation and replacement of the existing Bieber Fire Station and Heltiack Base located at 510 Bridge Street, Bieber CA. Project involve design and construction of a new fire station and helitack base complex. The proposed project would also include site preparation, utility extension and connections, water well, pipelines and 180,000 gallon water storage tank and possible backup storage, septic system, above-ground vehicle fuel storage, propane tank and lines, sustainable design storm water management features, security fencing, and all necessary appurtenances including driveways and interior roads. An overflow parking area is proposed in the southeastern corner of the complex to accommodate increased staff and equipment during a major fire event.
