The Johnson Canyon Restoration project will include work at three sites within the watershed, all located on the highly erosive western side of the watershed (Sites J, K & L on project map). Work will be completed with a combination of heavy equipment and hand labor. Restoration work involves decommissioning portions of abandoned roads currently used as trails where significant erosion has occurred using sustainable trail development techniques, treating erosion hot spots along the abandoned road and a road currently in use, treating old logging landings that are actively eroding, and creating new drainage features to restore the natural hydrological patterns. Restoration work is proposed to be completed through a combination of hand labor and heavy equipment and includes recontouring segments of roadway and drainage features, removing sediment accumulated in drainage features, creating proper water flow where drainage features across roadways, and stabilizing drainage features and slopes using biotechnical approaches such as brush mattressing, rock lining, placing pine needle wattles, and revegetating with native species. The project is proposed to restore the upper watershed to prevent water quality impacts to Gregory Creek.",https://ceqanet.opr.ca.gov/2017078109,Johnson Canyon Restoration Project,Lisa Wallace,Nevada County,N/A,,950 Maidu Ave.,,Nevada City,CA,95959,5305508760,,,Nevada,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Categorical Exemption,"S:15333, Class 33",Small Habitat Restoration Project.,,,,,,,,,,,,
