Pinto Lake is a shallow, 126-acre hyper eutrophic lake located within the Pajaro River watershed. The lake has been placed on the California Impaired Water bodies list and poses presently a significant health risk to humans and other mammals from frequent algal blooms. The CA Nonpoint Source Grant Program allocates annually Clean Water Act section 319 funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency to support projects that implement management measures or practices in alignment with a watershed-based plan to address water quality problems in surface water and groundwater resulting from NPS pollution. City of Watsonville received a CWA section 319 grant to implement the Pinto Lake Restoration Project in conformation with the Pajaro River Watershed. The Pinto Lake Restoration project would treat nutrient loadings within the lake that drive algal blooms. The anticipated timeline for polymer/coagulant application is late February to early March 2017.",https://ceqanet.opr.ca.gov/2017028088,Pinto Lake Restoration Project,Justin Meek,City of Watsonville,N/A,,250 Main Street,,Watsonville,CA,95077-5000,8317683077,,Watsonville,Santa Cruz,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Categorical Exemption,S:15307,"Section 15307 allows actions taken by regulatory agencies to assure the maintenance, restoration, or enhancement of a natural resource where the regulatory process involves procedures for protection of the environment.
