The project objectives are to improve flood control, seismic stability, and instream and riparian habitat on Rohner Creek and Hillside Creek within the City of Fortuna. Improvements from the project will include channel widening and stabilization, design of a floodplan swale for flows exceeding a 10 year storm, retrofitting of the 12th street culvert to improve fish passage, and replacement of three culverts and three bridges too enlarge the channel and improve flood conveyance. Instream work will require the installation of coffer dams. Temporary stream dewatering will be required to isolate work areas. Stream dewatering will be precluded by fish and amphibian relocation.
