Effluent from the Regional Sewer System is disinfected to a secondary level and currently use for irrigation of fodder crops and pasture and for stock water of non-dairy animals, all of which is under permit from the California Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB). Historically, T.U.D. has contracted with ranch owners for the use of recycled water for irrigation on more than 30 properties above and below Quartz Reservoir. This project will add additional land disposal area for recycled water to be used for irrigation. The availability of this land is important during ""wet"" years in order to empty Quartz Reservoir prior the next winter.
