Vander Lans Water Treatment Facility (LVLWTF) Expansion Project,NEG,3/8/2012,,"The LVLWTF's has an existing effluent capacity of 3 million gallons per day (mgd). The LVLWTF's main role is to produce recycled water through advanced treatment of wastewater that is blended with potable water and injected into the Alamitos Seawater Barrier. The LVLWTF processes tertiary treated (Title 22) recycled water from the Long Beach Water Reclamation Plant using microfiltration (MF), reverse osmosis (RO),and ultraviolet (UV) light. The plant was designed to accommodate future expansion to 8.0 mgd (the proposed project). Project would increase recycled water production capacity to 8 mgd to produce more water for recharge and reduce the need for potable water prior to injection. The expansion will maintain the same MF, RO, and UV system as the current plant but increase the capacity of each process. Project is within the existing site boundary.
