The proposed project would repair two erosion sites by placing rock slope protection (RSP) along the waterside of the levee. RSP is placed along the slope of the levee to prevent scour or erosion of the river bed and levee slope. RSP would be placed in layers, would include a bedding layer above the water, and would be comprised of angular rock that interlocks together to form a protective armor over the levee slope. RSP placement will be accomplished either from the top of the levee or, alternatively, material may be placed from a barge using typical construction equipment such as an excavator/front-end loader. Material may be stockpiled onsite then transported by barge between the erosion repair site south of East Gridley Road and the erosion repair site norht of East Gridley Road.
