The earthen house, constructed in 1906, is located within the recently acquired Vallecito Ranch property. The collapse of the house's existing roof requires this new roof structure to prevent further deterioration. The gabled roof structure will be 40' long x 32' wide x 20' high, and supported by six 8"" x 8"" posts set in concrete footings (36"" in diameter). In addition, approximately 200 feet of old dirt road will be cleared of saltbush and mesquite to provide access to the site. Each of the six footing locations will be excavated by State Parks archeologists to assure appropriate recovery of any cultural artifacts. In addition, no work will be conducted on the project between March 15 and September 15 to avoid any potential impacts to the federally and State endangered least Bell's vireo on adjacent areas.",https://ceqanet.opr.ca.gov/2006038394,Bailey Earthen Structure Protective Rood (05/06-CD-12),David Lawhead,"CA Department of Parks & Recreation, Colorado Desert District",N/A,,200 Palm Canyon Drive,,Borrego Springs,CA,92004,7607674315,,,San Diego,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Categorical Exemption,"C- 3,4,6; S- 15303,15304, 15306","-No potential for significant impacts to the environment is anticipated. -Construction of limited number of new structures (accessory structure). -Minor publice laterations in the condition of the land, water, and/or vegetation which do not involve the removal of healthy, mature, or scenic trees. -Basic data collection (cultural) which does not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource.",,,,,,,,,,,,
