The water will be diverted from November 1 through February 1 of the succeeding year. According to the Negative Declaration prepared for this project by Reclamation District 108, the water will be used for mostly non-consumptive purposes including rice straw decomposition on 18,000 acres, and recreational and wildlife enhancement uses for water fowl and wildlife viewing and hunting. There will also be consumptive use under the project of incidental irrigation of alfalfa and orchard crops. The maximum acreage to be irrigated will be 18,000 acres within the District's total irrigation service area of 47,057 acres. The point of diversion is the Wilkins Slough Pumping Plant, which is a screened facility located at California Coordinates, NAD 83, Zone 2, North 2, 130,572 ft and East 6,610,675 ft, being within the SW 1/4 of SE 1/4 of Section 35, T14N, R1E, MDB&M.
