Resource Conservation District (RCD) to administer the Santa Cruz wide Permit Coordination Program, for small, environmentally beneficial projects on private lands in Santa Cruz Co. Proposed activities will reduce roadbed erosion by upgrading the road drainage features on both the near and far approaches of Deer Creek Rd. On the near approach 1 rolling dip will be installed and 100 ft. of the road will be outsloped to a 4-6% grade. In addition, one 18""X40"" ditch relief culvert will be installed to convey water from the inboard ditch to the outboard road edge. A critical dip will be installed below the culvert. The outlet of the culvert will be armored with a rock dissipater constructed using non woven geotextile fabric and 1 cubic yard of D100 = 10"" rock. Approx. 52 cubic yards of 1.5"" drain rock will be applied to the road surface in areas where work takes place. Common barley (Hordeum vulgare), a non native annual grass, will be used to revegetate disturbed areas. The project is located on a rural private road that was constructed along Deer Creek. Deer Creek is a tributary to Bear Creek which drains into San Lorenzo River watershed. The project site is located approx. 0.5 mi. from the intersections of Hartman Creek Rd. and Deer Creek Rd. There is no specific residential address at the project location. The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2008-0433-03 pursuant to Sec. 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Santa Cruz Co.
