The City's goal in preparing the Northwest Chico Specific Plan is to guide development in this area by identifying environmental and planning issues that must be considered in more detail as specific development proposals are received. The current project identifies locations for new residential, commercial and mixed use development as well as a network of opern space in the project area. The plan anticipates 20.3 acres of new commercial uses and approximately 334 acres of new residential uses or roughly 2000 new housing units. The City is currently preparing plans for the future DeGarmo Community Park, a 35 acre park that will be located within the project area. The City has already prepared a negative declaration for DeGarmo Park, so it is not part of this environmental review process.
