The project will also include the alignment and widening of Road 209 and improvements to the Road 209/State Highway 41 intersection, as well as the permanent preservation and management of Habitat Management lands to offset the Project related impacts. The project will result in impacts to 135.7 acres of California tiger salamander (CTS; Ambystoma californiense) habitat including temporary impacts to 14.6 acres associated with the right-of-way improvements, and the permanent loss of 121 acres of CTS habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of CTS, which is designated as a threatened species under the California Endangered Species Act.
