The new building would be located one block between 1st, 2nd, Los Angeles and Main Streets, and would accommodate an estimated 1,837 Caltrans employees and 564 City Department of Transportation employees. The north end of project site is occupied by several one and two-story commercial buildings and by the Latino Museum of History, Art and Culture, which has been closed for a number of months. The remaining 2/3 of the block is occupied by an existing Caltrans employee parking lot. St. Vibiana's Cathedral is located south of the project site and City Hall is located to the northwest. To complete the proposed project, the City of Los Angeles and State of California would have to reach an agreement upon a land exchange whereby the City would acquire the privately owned parcels along 1st Street between Los Angeles and Main Streets and exchange those properties for the existing Caltrans headquarters building property. The City is also proposing to acquire the privately owned properties on the block that contains the existing Caltrans headquarters building, on the south side of 1st Street, between Spring and Main Streets.",https://ceqanet.opr.ca.gov/2001011098/6,Caltrans District 7 Headquarters Building Replacement Project,Linda Moore,"Department of Public Works, Bureau of Engineering",N/A,,"650 South Spring Street, Suite 500",,Los Angeles,CA,90014-1914,2138478693,,Los Angeles,Los Angeles,,"First, Second, Los Angeles, and Main Streets",90012,4,5161-015-901,101,Los Angeles River,,,,,,,,,,,,,City Council of Los Angeles ,No,12/11/2001,Yes,Yes,No,,Yes,,Yes,,"Caltrans District 7 120 South Spring Street Los Angeles, Ca 90012 Contact: jinous Saleh (213) 897-0683 Los Angeles Central Library 630 West 5th Street Los Angeles, CA California Department of General Services Environmental Services Section 1102 Q Street, Suite 5100 Sacramento, Ca 95814 Contact: Susan Stratton (916) 323-9651"
