Interim NSA Pipeline Project

Description

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2014-0208-R2, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, The Department of Water Resources. The Interim NSA Project includes the installation of approximately 4,300 feet of 66-inch diameter water pipeline material along the north side of Florin Road and approximately 2,700 feet of 30-inch diameter water pipeline along the west side of Excelsior Road north of Florin (Exhibit A-Project Map). The pipe will be installed in open trenches within the existing pavement or road shoulder using conventional trenching techniques with a backhoe or excavator. Trenching techniques include: preparing the surface, excavating the trench, shoring trench side walls, pipeline installation, backfilling, surface grading, and replacement of asphalt pavement to match the existing road. There are four drainage culverts that are within the Department's jurisdiction that cross the alignment. The pipeline will be installed beneath these culverts by supporting and protecting them in place while the soil beneath is excavated and the new pipe is installed. If the culvert pipes cannot be protected in place, a portion will be cut and temporarily removed. The spliced pipes will be collared and replaced with the same material pipe to preexisting elevations and grades after the new water line has been placed beneath them.
