Document Description
On May 6, 2025, the County of Los Angeles (County) Board of Supervisors (Board) approved to increase the annual funding for the continued operations of the Antelope Valley Environmental Collection Center (AVECC) in the City of Palmdale. The AVECC provides residents with the opportunity for a safe, efficient, and convenient method of disposal of household hazardous and electronic waste. Additional funding is needed due to increased labor and disposal costs, and to maintain the current level of service without a reduction in operating hours and to meet demand. The annual cost for the County beginning in Fiscal Year 2024-25 is estimated to be $283,500, an increase of approximately 35 percent.

Increase of the annual funding for the continued operation of an existing facility with no expansion in use are within a class of projects that have been determined not to have significant effect on the environment. There are no cumulative impacts, unusual circumstances, damage to scenic highways, listing on hazardous waste site lists compiled pursuant to Government Code section 65962.5, or indications that the proposed actions may cause a substantial adverse change in the significance of a historical resource that would make the exemption inapplicable.
