Document Description
This project will rebuild a set of doors on the Erecting Shop in Old Sacramento State Historic Park that were demolished in an accident. The project will rebuild the doors to match the originals to restore the exterior façade of the building back to its historic appearance. Work will:
• Use the same wood species as the original doors, as well as dimensions copied from the remains of
the original damaged doors;
• Upgrade original joints to traditional pinned mortise and tenons for added strength and longevity;
• Use existing bricks and like/kind mortar to repoint the damaged brick section near the hinge;
• Use steel instead of pot metal for hinges adhered to the brick, for added strength and longevity; and
• Paint the interior and exterior with color matched to originals
All work will be done in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.

The project consists of repair and rehabilitation of an existing historic building. The work will be conducted in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, with Guidelines for Preserving, Rehabilitating, Restoring and Reconstructing Historic Buildings (1995), Weeks and Grimmer, and is included as “activities affecting historic resources, consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities, in accordance with CCR §15300.4.
