Document Description
The Sunnyvale School District (SSD) proposes to update the Sunnyvale Middle School Master Plan (Master Plan). The original Master Plan planned for the modernization of several existing buildings on the campus. Under the updated Master Plan, the SSD would instead demolish and replace several buildings on the campus including the administrative building, locker rooms, and several classroom buildings. The updated Master Plan would also construct a new student commons building, modify existing landscaping and plaza areas, and relocate and restripe the outdoor basketball courts. Similar to the original Master Plan, the updated Master Plan would be completed in phases as funding becomes available.

Reasons for Exemption
The updated Sunnyvale Middle School Master Plan would not introduce a new use or substantially expand an existing use on the campus and would not increase enrollment at the campus. Per section 15300.2 of the CEQA Guidelines, it has been determined the project is not located on a hazardous waste site and the project would not affect environmental resources of hazardous or critical concern, result in a significant impact due to unusual circumstances, damage scenic resources, affect an historical resource, or result in a cumulative impact. For these reasons, the project is exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
