Document Description
The Alameda County Public Works Agency (County) is proposing roadway improvements on Norbridge Avenue from the Stanton Avenue and Norbridge Avenue intersection to Tyee Court in Castro Valley in Alameda County. The project involves using the existing County road right-of-way to add Class II bike lanes, construction of new pervious and Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) sidewalk, driveway, curb and gutter, and curb ramps. Additional work includes: removal of approximately five (5) trees, if needed; drainage inlet modifications; roadway resurfacing; repair or reconstruction of roadway as needed; signing and striping; utility relocations and adjustments. The project and its construction activities would be within the existing County road right-of-way, and include traffic control measures and BMPs to protect the environment. The purpose of the project is to extend the sidewalks and bike lanes along Norbridge Avenue to close the gap between existing facilities to enhance connectivity, safety, and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists, and linking western Castro Valley to the BART Station.
